This plant is mainly distributed in tropical Southeast Asia and has a long history of application in the traditional Chinese medical system.
Botanical characteristics and sources

Semen Sterculiae Lychnophorae Extract (Pangdahai) is a deciduous tree that can reach a height of 30-40 meters. Its mature seeds are spindle-shaped or elliptical, measuring 2-3 centimetres in length and 1-1.5 centimetres in diameter.
The surface is brown to dark brown and has irregular wrinkles. According to the first volume of the 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopeia, Semen Sterculiae Lychnophorae is the dried mature seed of the wutong family plant Panghai. The fruit is harvested when it is ripe and cracked in autumn.
Our raw materials are strictly selected from authentic real estate areas and are grown in GAP-certified planting bases to ensure high-quality and stable raw materials.

Benefits
1. Anti-inflammatory and immune function
Intraperitoneal injection of semen sterculiae lychnophorae extract has an obvious inhibitory effect on auricular swelling caused by 2% croton oil. Further research shows that its main anti-inflammatory active ingredient is a polysaccharide, and oral administration is ineffective, suggesting that its anti-inflammatory active ingredient cannot be absorbed through the intestinal tract. This product can increase the weight of the thymus and spleen and has a certain promotional effect on specific immune functions.
2. Effects on vascular smooth muscle
Sterculiae has a contractile effect on vascular smooth muscle, can improve mucosal inflammation, and relieve spastic pain. It can be used to treat prostatitis, urethritis, inflammation of the uterus and appendages, and irregular menstruation.
3. Antihypertensive effect
The wet soaking solution of semen sterculiae lychnophoraei, after removing fat, or made into a 25% solution, 1.25g/kg for cats or intramuscular injection of 25-100mg/kg for cats and dogs, both showed antihypertensive effect; the former's antihypertensive effect can last for 3 to 5 hours, and the latter is about 30 minutes. Its hypotensive principle may be related to the central nervous system.
4. Antiviral effect
Semen sterculiae lychnophorae infusion 1:1600 has an inhibitory effect on the influenza A virus PR8 strain.
